The Central Committee of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to field a candidate against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in Shimoga parliamentary constituency.

Co-convenor of the city unit of AAP, Suresh Kotekar,  said the party has decided to field candidates in constituencies from where corrupt politicians are contesting. Recently, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had accused Yeddyurappa of being a corrupt politician.

On the probable candidates for Shimoga, Kotekar said farmer leader Kadidal Shamanna was approached but he refused to contest the election. Meanwhile, Kejriwal is set to take part in a three-day campaign in the district.
