Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday called upon farmers to grow sufficient grain to be distributed under the Anna Bhagya scheme. If not, the government will be forced to purchase the same from outside.

At a programme organised to present Krishi Pandit awards to farmers by the Agriculture Department, he said youths are considering agriculture non-profitable and are migrating to cities.

“There is a need to make agriculture more attractive for youths and for that we need to concentrate on research in agriculture,” he said. The CM also urged universities to take up agriculture-based research activities.
