No Govt Pressure to Spare MLA, Claims George

No Govt Pressure to Spare MLA, Claims George

BANGALORE: No one is stalling the arrest of MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar, Home Minister K J George said on Saturday.

The Congress legislator has gone into hiding since Tuesday after allegedly slapping a constable at a plush lounge bar.

“An investigating officer will probe the case impartially. The state government is not interfering in the case in any manner,” George told reporters at a Border Security Force event in Yelahanka.

When reminded of the opposition clamour for action against the ‘absconding’ MLA, George said they were spreading false information, with help from some media houses, to gain political mileage. After taking the guard of honour at the BSF Centre, he said, “In floods and emergencies, BSF staff risk their lives for the people.”

The BSF faces many challenges such as terrorism and Maoism. It also plays a key role in maintaining internal security, he said.

George felicitated BSF staff who had done exceptional work. The event marked the completion of traning for 193 sub-inspectors, including 14 women.
