Home-alone Woman Murdered in Mysore City

MYSORE: A middle aged home-alone woman was found murdered at her house behind Olympia Theatre in the city on Monday morning. Lakshmi (50) who was living at her ancestral house in the crowded Devaraja Mohalla had her head smashed with a grinding stone.

The incident came to light when cloth seller Mahesh, who would keep his materials at Lakshmi’s house at night, reached there in the morning.

According to him, the front door of the house was open and he found her in a pool of blood in a room.

Then he called up the police. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were pressed into action.

Police said prima facie, the murder was not for gain as all the valuables are intact. It is also suspected that the victim’s relatives might be behind the crime as some of them had quarrelled with her over a property located in the heart of the city recently. Lakshmi was said to be separated from her husband who lives in Bangalore along with his son.

DCP M M Mahadevaiah said the police have collected CCTV footages of some shops near the house. Manjunath, who is said to be a foster son of Lakshmi, said he called her up on Sunday night. Devaraja Mohalla police are investigating.
