No Culprit Will Be Spared: Umashree

GULBARGA: Women and Child Development Minister Umashree visited the family of a seven-year-old rape victim in Kasarbhosaga village in Jewargi taluk on Sunday.

After meeting the girl, who was raped by a 50-year-old man, Umashree told reporters that the government will take strict action against rape accused and no culprit will be spared even if influential people mount pressure on the government. 

She also said women need not be afraid due to the recent incidents.

Umashree handed over a cheque for `10,000 to the parents. The compensation was released by the Child Protection Committee. Later, Umashree visited the District Government Hospital and consoled another minor girl who was gang raped at Bammanahalli in Aland taluk six months ago. Legislators Dr Ajay Singh and Jayamala accompanied Umashree.

Kolar: A 26-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. A source said Gangaraju (26), who lived in the same village as the victim, reportedly followed the Class VIII student when she was returning from school on a two-wheeler on Saturday. Later when he admitted the victim to a government hospital, she become unconscious and he escaped.

Yadgir: A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 17-year-girl at Worknwalli Tanda in the district on Sunday.

The girl has been admitted to the general hospital in Yadgir, police said. The accused, Devu Rathod, was arrested and later remanded in judicial custody.
