Two MLAs Likely to be Booked

BELGAUM:  Criminal cases will be filed against Belgaum South MLA Sambhajirao Patil and Khanapur MLA Aravind Patil if found that they had violated prohibitory orders imposed in the troubled areas of the district.

District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi told reporters here on Monday that there were reports that the two legislators flouted prohibitory orders. Authorities would view the video footage and if they were found guilty, cases would be registered, he said, even as ‘Maharashtra Rajya’ boards sprung up at 22 more villages on Monday.

Both MLAs had held a few public meetings in Belgaum city, Yellur and in Khanapur taluk on Saturday and Sunday and reportedly provoked people through speeches, violating prohibitory orders which prohibits gathering of more than five people and holding of public meetings.

The Minister said those who erected the boards would be booked under CrPC Section 153(A).
