The city seems to be warming up to Rs 20,000 dinner meeting which is being hosted by a group called Friends of Aam Admi Party (FAAP) to raise funds for the election campaign of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidates.
This is said to be the costliest known dinner programme organised in the city till date.
FAAP Member Dr Krishnan said, “As many as 300 people, including some from the corporate sector, have registered for the dinner programme. They can discuss politics and other things with the party leader Arvind Kejriwal. We have sent some invitations and some other members of our group are also in touch with some more people. It will be difficult to determine the number of people who would be participating in the programme at this juncture”.
Krishnan said that the group is yet to finalise the venue of the programme.
Anyone who donates `20,000 or more can participate in the dinner.
All the payments and donations should be made through cheque, Krishnan added.
The names of the donors and the details of their donations would be displayed and posted on AAP’s Karnataka website.
The dinner meeting is scheduled to be organised between 8.30 and 11.30 pm on March 15 evening.
Kejriwal would also be addressing a dinner meeting which would be organised by the Young Presidents’ Organisation at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on the same day.
AAP’s Jhadu Chalao Yatras
Meanwhile, the party is planning to take out Jhadu Chalao Yatras across the city besides starting a campaign on social media to create awareness about the arrival of its leader Arvind Kejriwal to the city on March 15.
According to sources, some AAP units have requested the police to give them the permission to take out the rallies.
Karnataka AAP Secretary Sumith Negi said, “As the election code of conduct is in force, we have to take police permission to take out rallies.”
“The local units have already approached the police and are waiting for their permission to take out the rallies to create awareness about Aravind’s coming to the city and about the mega rally that we are planning to organise on March 15,” he noted.
