In a bid to promote the spirit of universal brotherhood, six-year-old Karuna Rajan Waghela will perform a 60-minute non-stop limbo skating show from 8 am at the KLES Skating Rink here on Sunday.

Karuna, who has been undergoing skating training since three years, is expected to break the world record.

Skating coach Suryakant Hindalgekar said Karuna will cover a distance of around 4 km and change her position every nine seconds during the show.

Every time Karuna gets in the position for limbo skating by stretching her legs, she will slide under a bar which will be nine inches above the ground, he said. Rajan Waghela, Karuna’s father, said Karuna was drawn to skating after watching her two sisters skating at the Belgaum Roller Skating Academy. He said she was just 3-years-old when she started skating.

Hindalgekar said training for limbo skating started about 18 months ago. He said Karuna undergoes rigorous training for about two hours everyday.

“United we stand and divided we fall” is Karuna’s favourite slogan, who is a student od Divine Providence School.
