Throwing a spanner into the plan of party MLAs going on a foreign tour, KPCC president G Parameshwara has made an appeal to Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa not to give consent to such proposals.

Speaking to reporters, after greeting senior Congress leader and former external affairs minister S M Krishna on his 84th birthday here on Thursday, Parameshwara said it is improper on the part of the MLAs to go on a study tour to foreign countries when most parts of the state is reeling under severe drought.

Parameshwara said, “I have also advised our party MLAs to desist from going abroad.”

When asked about PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa, who reportedly spent over ` 75 lakh to give a facelift to his official residence, Parameshwara said lavish spending should be avoided.

He said the issue of party’s nominations to the Legislative Council would be taken only after the formation of the new government at the Centre.  “Chief Minister and I would sit together before finalising the probable names before recommending it to the party high command,” he said.
