Three children died on the spot and 15 others were injured when a speeding goods lorry that came in the wrong side hit a NEKRTC bus and two motorcycles here on Sunday early morning.
A Tata Ace mini truck, a mini auto and a jeep parked in the main road opposite the central bus-stand were also damaged.
The deceased have been identified as Jyothi (16), Harshitha (8) of Chinthakunta village and Sangeetha (6) of Nazlapur village in Yadgir taluk. Of the 15 injured, four passengers suffered fractures in their limbs and the rest sustained dental and nasal injuries. The injured were treated at the district government hospital in Yadgir.
The NEKRTC bus was moving from Yadgir to Hyderabad and the goods lorry was moving from Raichur to Shahapur.
SP Vamshi Krishna and the NEKRTC division controller visited the spot.
DC F R Jamadar met the patients in the hospital and sought details from District Surgeon.
