The Karnataka Legislature Committee on Women and Child Welfare is likely to submit a report to the State government soon on the problems being faced by film and theatre artistes.

Congress MLA Shakunthala Shetty heads the panel.

Shetty conducted a meeting on Tuesday with the members of over 22 organisations representing film and theatre artistes.

Later she told reporters that “a comprehensive report with recommendations” would be submitted next month.

But she refused to divulge the recommendations proposed.

Tara Anuradha, a member of the committee, said the panel has helped effectively tackle artistes’ problems in the past.

Ashok, president of Karnataka Chalanachitra Karmikara Okoota, said he has sought the extension of Employee’s State Insurance and Provident Fund (ESI and PF) benefits for women artistes.

“They should also be granted transport facility after night shoots,” he further added.
