UDUPI: Minutes after the wedding, a bride put her foot down and refused to accompany her husband to his home.
The groom from Chandra Nagar and the bride from Ucchila married at Sri Veerabhadra Temple in Kaup on Monday.
After the nuptial knot was tied and the guests had a sumptuous lunch, it was time to leave for the groom’s home, when the bride refused to go. She started to cry and insisted that she did not want to live with him.
All efforts by her parents to convince her went in vain. They tried to explain to the in-laws that she was stressed and everything would be right within a few days, but she refused to budge.
Facing an embarrassing situation, not knowing what to do, the groom’s family complained to the police, who tried for a compromise.
But the girl was adamant and the police gave the family a week’s time to resolve the delicate issue.
