BANGALORE: Governor H R Bhardwaj on Tuesday said he has no plan to resign from the post before the completion of his term.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 49th annual convocation of Bangalore University at Janajyothi Auditiorium, he said, “It is not a question of my desire. I have been appointed by the President for a term of five years and my term as Governor ends on June 29.”
“The Governor cannot leave unless the new governor comes in. I am a Constitutional authority and I maintain distance with political parties,” he said.
‘President Must Take A Decision’
Reacting to the Congress party’s decision to call back all the Governors appointed by the UPA government, he said, “I expect the President to take a decision. How can I report to Congress?”
“My proximity with Gandhi family was there and will always be there,” Bhardwaj said adding that he is not in touch with the Congress party in Delhi now.
