Devotees Throng Chitradurga for Murugha Mutt Ceremonies

CHITRADURGA: Amidst the recitation of Vachanas, Murugha Mutt Seer Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana wore a crown made of rudraksh and ascended the wooden chair of Shoonya Peeta as per tradition here on Sunday.

Shivamurthy Sharana visited the Karthru Gaddige of Murugi Shanthaveera Swamy before sitting on the wooden chair of Shoonya Peeta.

He did a puja for all the ornaments and historical things in the mutt. Devotees made offerings to the seer on the occasion. Portraits of Allama Prabhu and Basaveshwara were taken in a grand procession along with the manuscripts of Vachanas. Several folk-troupes and devotees of the mutt participated in the procession. The floral decoration made in front of the mutt enthralled the thousands of people who witnessed the procession.

A monthly mass marriage programme was conducted after the procession.

Seers from various parts of the state, the chairperson of the Sharana Sanskruthi Utsava-2014 Devikumari Vishwanath, Veerashaiva Samaj president Jayakumar and leader Shankumhappa took part in the programme.
