Mamatha Upset With Rs 10 L Award

MANGALORE: Mamatha Poojary, captain of Indian Kabaddi team that won gold in the recently concluded Incheon Asian games, said that she and other athletes from the state will reject cash award if it is Rs 10 lakh.

“If the athletes from other states get up to Rs 1 crore as rewards, why is the state government discriminating against its sportspersons? Even we made our country proud,” she told reporters at the Mangalore International Airport.  “If the government provides only Rs 10 lakh as award, we will all reject it,” she said.
