'System in KUD Rotten'

HUBLI: “The whole atmosphere in the University is totally vitiated and is stinking. The system is rotten.” These are the scathing remarks made by Justice B Padmaraj Inquiry Commission in its report over the affairs in Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD).

The commission was appointed to probe the allegations against KUD Vice Chancellor Prof H B Walikar. It has indicted the latter for showing undue haste in recruitment of certain posts.

“It appears to be beyond any reasonable doubt that the entire recruitment process has been done in haste, creating a ring of suspicion around the entire process. The V-C, who is the principal executive and academic officer of the university, did not appear to have evinced any interest in the welfare of the university, but showed an undue haste in recruitment, that too at the fag end of his tenure,” the report stated. The report castigated KUD authorities for not complying with audit objections. “There has been total carelessness and negligence on the part of all officials concerned, including the V-C. So, an in depth inquiry into the financial matters by an independent agency is an immediate need to streamline the affairs of university before they turn from bad to worse,”  it noted.
