'Plan to Set up KAT Bench in Gulbarga'

GULBARGA: The government is seriously thinking of establishing benches of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal in places where the High Court Benches are functioning, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said on Monday.

He told reporters that though there are three KAT benches in Bangalore, only the main bench is functioning. A total of around 28,000 cases are pending before the KAT. Considering the huge number of pending cases, the government is thinking of establishing KAT benches in Gulbarga and Dharwad, he added.

He said for the establishment of the bench, the government would place conditions on advocates to prevent injustice to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
