KUD Irregularities: Six Get Interim Bail

DHARWAD:  Six people, who had applied for anticipatory bail following a Lokayukta police notice to appear for inquiry,  were granted interim bail up to November 6.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD).

The Third Additional JMFC Special Court granted Shankargouda B Patil, L K Beeragoudar (syndicate members), S T Bagalkoti, C Rajashekhar, Prof B M Ratnakar and N R Balikai interim bail on Wednesday and adjourned the hearing to November 6.  The court has asked the public prosecutor to file objections, if any, in this regard.

Special Court Judge S S Bellulli questioned public prosecutor G B Andanigoudar on the reason for delay in filling objections.

Advocate Jagadish Gundakalmath, defending the accused, objected to the delay. Later, the judge denied the plea.  The interim bail has been granted with a condition that they should not leave the state, besides asking them to furnish personal bonds for `2 lakh with solvency sureties.
