BENGALURU: Members of the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday alleged that the Karnataka Lokayukta is mired in irregularities and demanded that Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao resign immediately.
Addressing reporters here on Monday, Ravi Krishna Reddy of AAP said that Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang had written a letter to the Lokayukta registrar about the illegalities within the ombudsman organisation. A copy of the letter shows that one Krishnamurthy, who is an executive engineer in Bengaluru (urban) approached Narang and said he was being harassed by Lokayukta officials. He had alleged that Krishna Rao demanded `1 crore as bribe.
Reddy said, “The Lokayukta is the role model of the state.... It is shocking to hear about such happenings.”
When contacted, Bhaskar Rao rubbished the allegations. He told Express the matter was under investigation. “Every body can make allegations... but how can anyone be punished unless the charges are proved. Similarly how can I take action when the matter is under investigation? I assure that stringent action will be taken against the culprit,” he said.
