MYSURU: The state government is all set to roll out Pashu Bhagya scheme in a month’s time. Under the scheme, landless people and small and medium farmers will get `1.25 lakh loan to purchase either two cows/buffaloes, 10 sheep/goat, or start piggery or fisheries. While the SC/STs will get a 50 percent subsidy on loan, others will get 25 per cent subsidy.
Animal Husbandry Department secretary Harsha Gupta told reporters here on Monday, “It is a targetless scheme and any number of people can avail of the benefit, provided they get a bank loan. Around `50 crore is set aside for it this year.
There are three components under the scheme — livestock purchase, rearing and insurance,” he said.
During the first year of livestock purchase, the beneficiaries will get rearing cost of `50,000 per unit of livestock (`1 lakh for fisheries) at zero interest from co-operative banks.
