BENGALURU: The state government is likely to cross-check findings of the recently-concluded socio-economic survey in Bengaluru city.
Speaking to reporters, Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya said officials of the department will cross-check the findings in one block in each Assembly segment in the city to ensure that no discrepancy has crept into the survey.
The government’s decision was prompted by complaints of invigilators not visiting all households in the city besides failing to properly collect the data. The government had to extend the last date of the survey four times.
“Right now, the compilation of data is under way. Once it is completed, the cross-verification will be taken up. Only then, the findings will be published,” Anjaneya said.
On the large number of vacancies in his department, Anjaneya said the government will soon fill all the vacancies as the Finance Department had already given its approval. The appointments will be made through Karnataka Public Service Commission, he added.
To a question, he said, SC, ST and OBC students, who are eligible for fee refund, need not pay the fee while seeking admissions to professional colleges if the colleges don’t arrange for the same. “We have sent a circular to all colleges, asking managements not to force students to pay the fee at the time of admission. The government will make the payments soon,” he added.
