Railway Employees Observe Yoga Day
BENGALURU: A yoga camp was organised by the Bengaluru Railway division at the Railway Institute Grounds on Sunday to mark the first International Day of Yoga. Subramanya Bhat of Vivekananda Yoga Academy taught yoga to the gathering.
“Everyone must practise yoga daily for self improvement which, will contribute to the betterment of society and thereby of the world,” said Divisional Railway Manager Sanjiv Agarwal.
He distributed prizes among the best performers. The top two prizes were bagged by M Ramesh and D M Suresh, both Railway Protection Force (RPF) constables. Chandrashekara Bhat, pharmacist at Railway Hospital, got the third prize.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sunanda Arul, Divisional president of South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, Monika Agarwal, officers and staff of Bengaluru Railway division and RPF performed yogasanas.
At a similar programme organised at Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, yoga teacher B Shivaprakash explained the importance of practising yoga and pranayama to all employees. Copies of the book on Common Yoga Protocol issued by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), were distributed.

The first All India Under-19 Inter-Railway Cricket Tournament concluded at RWF on Sunday with North Central Railway beating Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi, by 113 runs.
