BENGALURU:  It was a quiet Holi for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday. Instead of colours, he woke up to a morning session of yoga on his second day in the city.

Kejriwal is at Jindal Naturecure Institute for a 10-day naturopathy session.

His day began early at 5.30 am with first a walk through the premises of the institute followed by yogic kriya and pranayama.

“The full-fledged treatment has begun. He has a fixed schedule from 5.30 am to 8.30 pm,” Dr Babina Nandakumar, chief medical officer of the institute, said.

Kejriwal is receiving treatment to cure his chronic dry cough.

He is also an insulin-dependent diabetic patient. On his first day here, doctors collected his blood sample to test for sugar. “Based on the results, further changes will be made,” she added. The Aam Aadmi Party leader also underwent acupuncture therapy on day two.

Currently his diet includes whole wheat phulkas with dishes made from organic vegetables and fruits.

“He is regularly given juices once in two hours,” doctors said. The liquid diet includes bitter gourd juice, ginger tea, tulsi kadha, and juices of green leafy vegetables.

“We are waiting for the test results and then we will work on reducing the cough and bringing down the blood sugar level, which was around 300 when he came here,” she said.

The treatment also includes massages, which they have already started. “Today, he was given a hot stone massage,” Dr Nandakumar said.

Doctors said even after the 10-day treatment, he will have to make lifestyle changes.

“He cannot consume fried food and sweets and there has to be an increase in high fibre food in his diet. Eating meals at correct and regular intervals and also adequate sleep are two crucial things,” she said.
