Leopard Trapped in Mysuru City

A leopard which strayed into the Sericulture Training Institute on Mananthavadi Road here, was trapped by the Forest Department.

MYSURU: A three-and-a-half-year-old male leopard, which strayed into the Sericulture Training Institute on Mananthavadi Road here, was trapped by the Forest Department personnel on Friday.

A woman spotted the animal early morning near Srirampura.

Forest officials had placed three cages in the surrounding areas, including one on the institute premises. Four days ago, they had tied a dog to lure the leopard.

The leopard entered the institute’s premises and was trapped. Later, the Forest Department personnel  released the leopard into a nearby forest.

Elephant Attacks Woman

Tumakuru: A woman farmer sustained severe injuries when an elephant attacked her in the early hours at Bhyrasandra village near here on Friday. Sources said Kamalamma (45) lofted her and threw her down.

Villagers gathered at the spot after an old woman shouted forcing the elephant to flee the site.
