TUMAKURU: A man was tied to a tree and beaten up by the public for attacking his mother at M Gollahalli village near here on Wednesday.
He was then handed over to the police. The accused Narasimharaju, is an alcoholic.
He attacked his mother Kempamma (60) and hit her arms with a crowbar after she did not concede to his demand for money to meet his expenses on liquor on Tuesday night. The neighbours came to know about the incident on Wednesday.
The woman was admitted to the district hospital.
The accused has been booked on charges of attempt to murder.
