BELAGAVI:People of Kalahal village in Ramdurg taluk, who were angry with the officials for their alleged failure in supplying safe and pure drinking water, made the taluk officials, including the tahsildar, drink the unclean and muddy water being supplied to them, at the Taluk Panchayat meeting held on Saturday.
Hundreds of villagers, led by Sangalad TP segment member Hiremath, thronged the meeting hall when the matter of drinking water was being discussed. They showed the plastic bottles of water they brought from their area and asked the members to check its quality. The water, which was muddy and smelling bad, was given to the officials who were forced to taste it. Since there was no option, Tahsildar Tukaram Dasar too could not escape tasting the water.
Dasar said safe drinking water would be supplied to the village.
