Many Judicial Posts Filled Across State

BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday issued a notification, promoting 41 judicial officers. On Saturday, Registrar General John Michael Cunha issued the notification promoting N K Sudhindra Rao, the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Tumakuru, as the new Registrar (Recruitment) of the High Court.

Judge Sudhindra Rao is known for sending many politicians behind the bars — including former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa — as judge of Lokayukta Special Court.

The High Court also promoted two deputy registrars of Lokayukta as additional registrars of Karnataka Lokayukta, Bengaluru. They are D S Vijaya Kumar and S Gopalappa. The post was lying vacant so far. The order transferring officers of the Judicial Department in the cadre of district judges with promotion will come into effect immediately.

However, uncertainty over the appointment of registrar of Lokayukta continued. Despite the High Court having recommended the name of district principal and sessions judge Gunaki Narendra Kumar Basavaraj as the Registrar, the state government put IAS officer C K Jaffer in this post.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee met acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee recently and said that the issue would be settled after a discussion with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as the state government did not want confrontation with the judiciary. However, no decision was taken.

Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee was not available for comments.

The other judges promoted were district Judge K B Chengappa, who is the Principal Secretary to Government, Law Department. He will replace N K Sudhindra Rao in Tumakuru.

District Judge K Natarajan, who was Registrar of (Recruitment), High Court, will replace K B Chengappa.

Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mandya, has been promoted as the Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal, Bengaluru.

The post of the second additional principal judge in the Family Court in Bengaluru will be filled with the posting of third additional principal judge H R Sreenivas. Nandakumar B is Principal Judge, Family Court in Chikkamagaluru, Hosamani Siddappa H has been posted as fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge in Dharwad, K Subramanya as second Additional District and Sessions Judge in Kolar, Savithri Venkataraman Bhat as seventh additional district and sessions judge in Bengaluru Rural District.

The many vacant courts in Bengaluru such as the fourth additional city civil and sessions court, sixteenth additional city civil and sessions court, fifth additional principal judge, family court, fifth additional city civil and sessions court, LX additional city civil and sessions court, second additional city civil and sessions court, XIII additional city civil and sessions court in Bengaluru, third additional city civil and sessions court, XXVIII additional city civil and sessions judge, XXX Additional City Civil and Sessions court were given postings.

This apart, vacant posts of judge of fifth additional district and sessions court in Tumakuru, fourth additional district and sessions court in Channarayapatna, principal judge, family court in Gadag, the first additional district and sessions court court in Mandya, LXVII additional city civil and sessions judge in Bengaluru city, were filled.

Newly Created Courts

Patil Mohammadgouse Mohiddin, the tenth Additional District and Sessions Judge, Belagavi, has been posted as the eighth additional district and sessions judge to the newly-created court in Belagavi.

Donekallu Veeranna, Senior Civil Judge, Hiriyur, has been promoted as the second additional district and sessions judge and posted to the newly created court in Chitradurga, Chandrashekar C as seventh additional district and sessions court in

Mysuru.

In Other Districts

A Gurumurthy, the senior civil judge of Krishnarajanagar, as been promoted as fourteenth additional city civil and sessions judge to the vacant court in Bengaluru city.

Principal Senior Civil Judge S H Hosagoudar has been promoted as the twenty seventh city civil and sessions judge to the vacant court in Bengaluru.

Judicial Academy

Deputy Director of Karnataka Judicial Academy H R Radha has been promoted as Additional Director of Karnataka Judicial Academy. The post was lying vacant.
