Moral Policing: Girl Complains of Sexual Harassment

MANGALURU: The incident of alleged moral policing against a youth took a new twist when the girl filed a sexual harassment against him at Pandeshwar Women’s Police station on Tuesday.

The man was stripped to his underwear by an organisation, tied to an electricity pole at a busy intersection and thrashed for talking to the girl who belonged to another community.

Earlier, it was said that the man and the girl were colleagues at a supermarket at Attavar.

At a press conference convened at Mallikatta, the girl said she had joined the supermarket three months ago.

“Despite opposition, he has been  sexually harassing me. On the pretext of dropping me, he pulled me forcibly into the car. When I screamed for help, locals questioned his move,” she said.

“In retaliation, he tried to assault the public who came to rescue me. Later, the group assaulted him,” she said.

Meanwhile, Pandeshwar police nabbed 10 youths on Tuesday.

Three people had been detained by the police for questioning on Monday. According to the information given by the detained youth, the others were arrested.
