KOLAR:Energy Minister D K Shivakumar has directed Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) officials to provide 480 MW power to Kolar and Chikballapur districts.
The minister’s instruction came after a delegation led by MP and former union minister K H Muniyappa on Thursday urged him solve the power crisis in the districts.
The delegation told the minister that Kolar and Chikballapur districts are totally dependent on underground water, to pump which power is essential.
There has been erratic power supply for the past two weeks as the districts are supplied 120 MW which is only 20 percent of the regular supply.
MSIL Chairman Anil Kumar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee women’s wing vice-president Roopa Sashidhar, zilla panchayat member Narayana Reddy and others were present.
