State Farmers' Forum Meets Goa Water Resources Minister

HUBBALLI: Members of Rajya Raitha Sanghatanegala Okkoota recently met Goa Water Resources Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and requested him to solve the Mahadayi river diversion project amicably.

Informing reporters here on Saturday, convener of the forum Vinaykumar Patil said the forum members were successful in convincing Mandrekar about the drinking water problem in the region.  Patil said Mandrekar replied that Union Minister Manohar Parrikar was the only leader who could take a suitable decision on the matter.

He then informed the delegation that the Karnataka government should convince Parrikar to solve the matter out of court.

“We met Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Luizinho Faleiro and he assured that he will persuade the Opposition leaders to solve the matter,” Patil said.

Patil requested all the top leaders of the state BJP to persuade Parrikar to solve the issue out of the tribunal. He also requested all the Congress leaders to convince their party leaders in Goa.
