6 Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Tumakuru

TUMAKURU: Four people died in an accident on National Highway 4 near Seebi temple near here on Wednesday evening.

The victims have been identified as Varadaraju (35), Senthilkumar (31), and Gyanesh (23), all natives of Tiruchy in Tamil Nadu and residents of Bengaluru city. The fourth victim, Shivaprasad (25), was a native of  Gubbi Chikkaiahanapalya village near Kallambella.

The accident occurred when a Sira-bound speeding milk lorry ran them over on the highway. The first three victims were changing a tyre by parking their four-wheeler while the fourth one was riding his motorbike ahead of them when the lorry hit them, police said.  SP Raman Gupta, ASP R Lakshmana and senior police officers visited the spot.

Kallambella police have registered a case and are investigating. In the second accident, two youths died on the spot and another was injured when a motorbike on which they were riding, hit a private bus at Koratagere Cross near Kunigal on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Venkatesha (25) and Rangaswamy (26) of Koratagere village.

The injured, Hemantharaju, has been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru. The victims were on their way to Kunigal. Kunigal police have registered a case.

BE Student Drowns

An engineering student drowned in a tank near Devarayanadurga near here on Tuesday. His body was fished out on Wednesday.

After writing his examinations at Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Bharath (23) went to Nayakarapalya Kere for a swim. According to police sources, he was in inebriated state.
