MANGALURU: The Ullal police have arrested one Naresh Gatty under the Information Technology Act for allegedly circulating a morphed image of Health Minister U T Khader on a movie poster through an instant messaging app.
Gatty allegedly circulated the picture of the minister on Whatsapp and captioned it in some obscene and incriminating words.
Gatty belonged to a Whatsapp group administered by one Hameed Hasan, who is a supporter of Khader. In his complaint to the police, Hasan alleged that Naresh had posted the morphed picture of Khader to embarrass the group members.
The police have confirmed Gatty’s arrest under Sections 66 (A) and 67 of the Information Technology Act. Hasan told Express that the post was made “in bad taste”. “Khader is a respectable politician and we, as his close followers, cannot tolerate such pranks,” he said.
Khader was, however, unmoved by the post and only said, “I am not disturbed.”
