KPCC Meet on Membership Drive Today

BENGALURU: Karnataka Pradesh Congress president G Parameshwara is convening a meeting of all the 448 block and 30 district congress committee presidents on Tuesday to chalk out plans to boost the party’s membership drive across the state.

KPCC media coordinator Dinesh Gooligowda told Express that apart from reviewing the progress of the drive, Parameshwara will also seek the member’s opinions to strengthen the party’s rank and file.

KPCC office-bearers too will attend the day-long meeting, he said.

Gooligowda added that discussions will be held on steps to prevent the BJP from eating into the party base in the state.

Taking serious note of the slow pace of the membership drive, the KPCC president had earlier exhorted Cabinet ministers and MLAs to take an active role in enlisting new members.

Parameshwara had urged them to learn from the saffron party, which has launched its membership drive in a big way by involving everyone from its top-rung leaders to the foot soldiers.
