KOPPAL: The State Election Commission (SEC) is gearing up for the Gram Panchayat elections in the state, a highly-placed source told Express.

The SEC has shot off a missive to all DCs and directed them to depute additional deputy commissioners for a preparatory meeting to be held in Bengaluru.

The meeting is expected to consider the increase in number of GPs from the existing 5,629 and increase of number of seats in GPs based on the 2011 census.
