Cong Attack on Speaker: BJP Demands Apology

BENGALURU: BJP has strongly condemned the public outbursts by a few Congress leaders and legislators against Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa.

The party has also urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to rein-in the MLAs who have started airing their views against the Speaker, lowering the dignity of the constitutional office.

Taking objection to harsh comments made by senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary recently against Kagodu Thimmappa, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar has demanded Poojary to tender an apology for insulting the Speaker.

“This is an insult. They should remember the fact that Thimmappa had quit from Congress primary membership before assuming office as Speaker. So what right do the Congress legislators have to complain to Sonia,” Shettar asked.

‘Sort Out Differences’

KALABURAGI: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge asked the Chief Minister and Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa to sort out their differences and not damage the image of the party.
