Leopard Trapped in Pandavapura

MANDYA: A leopard, which had created panic among the villagers, was caught at Chikkamarali village near Edabetta in Pandavapura taluk on Tuesday night.

The villagers have been complaining about a leopard entering their villages and attacking the livestock.

The Forest Department had laid traps in various places three months ago and the animal was trapped in one such cage. The villagers, who saw the leopard trapped in the cage on Wednesday morning, informed the Forest Department officials.

They visited the spot and released the leopard into the forest at Hanuru taluk in Chamarajanagar district.

The villagers claimed that more than four leopards were spotted at Chikkamarali village in the last one year.

They urged the officials to take steps to capture these animals as well.
