Basava Krishi Award Announced

HUBBALLI: Pune-based social activist Baba Adhav has been selected for the Basava Krishi Award, constituted by Kudalasangama Lingayat Panchamasali Jagadguru Peetha.

The Peetha’s seer Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami told reporters here on Saturday that the award would be given to Adhav at the Krishi Sankranti programme to be held at Kudalasangama on Thursday.

Adhav has been selected for the award in recognition of his commendable work for the welfare of labourers, particularly from unorganised sectors, the seer said.

He said the award was constituted in 2012 in the name of Basavanna and farmers. It has been presented to ‘Water Man of India’ Rajendra Singh. Social activists Anna Hazare and Medha Patkar.
