BELAGAVI: A 35-year-old man from Punjab, who commenced an all-India tour on his cycle, reached Belagavi on Sunday. He aims to promote cycling as a lifestyle and highlight the importance of being eco-friendly.

Gurjeet Singh aims to ride through all the 29 states, touching each capital city, covering 20,000 km. He cycles about 200 km daily and six days a week. The successful completion of his tour will help Singh enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

Singh made a small halt at Infinity Studios Firefox bike station at Tilakwadi on his way to Panjim in Goa. He said he aims to promote cycling as a sport and bring recognition for India at the international level.

Singh’s tour is planned to be completed in 121 days. A utility vehicle will accompany him to carry a terrain bike, food, water, clothing and other supplies and a trained support staff to handle any unforeseen circumstance.

“My 3-year-old daughter and wife have been a constant source of strength,” said Singh.
