Another Scare for CM in Freak Gun Incident

BENGALURU: After the copter smoke incident last week, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had another scare on Tuesday when bullets from his gunman’s pistol spilled onto the road while the latter was trying to control a crowd.

The incident happened when Siddaramaiah was walking towards his car after laying the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel at Hazrat Hameed Shah complex in Cubbonpet in Bengaluru.

As he approached his car, party workers and several onlookers gathered around him, and the gunman tried to push them away. In the melee, the pistol from the gunman’s holster fell to the ground. Due to the impact, the magazine came off the pistol, spilling bullets all around. There were 30 bullets in the magazine, it is learnt. An internal inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

In March 2013, former minister C C Patil was injured when his gunman accidentally opened fire while trying to disperse a crowd in a village in Gadag district.

On Saturday, Siddaramaiah was aboard a helicopter when smoke was detected in the rear before take-off.
