Government to Look into Village Accountants' Demands

BENGALURU: Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad assured village assistants that the State government would look into their request to be considered Group D employees.

He was speaking after releasing the 2015 diary of the Karnataka State Revenue Department Employees’ Association and the Karnataka State Village Accountants’ Association on Wednesday. “There are 10,450 gram sahayaks and they have given a memorandum to accommodate them under Group D but there is a legal hurdle and it will be solved by consulting legal experts,” he said.

He also said the department’s ‘Podi Adalat and Revenue Adalat’ pilot project in Tumakuru and Kolar had been a success.

“At present, there are 1.68 lakh pahani (land record) holders. Most of the documentation work done earlier was done manually, and so there were errors. Now, complete computerisation is being done,” he said. The minister also said there was a severe surveyors’ shortage in the department.
