MYSURU: A bomb hoax at the Mysuru Palace had tourists anxious for some time onFriday afternoon as palace and police officials combed the premises.
The police pressed the bomb detection squad and sniffer dogs into service after the palace control room received a phone call around 2 pm stating that three bombs have been placed in the parking lot of Mysuru Palace, and would go off at 2.45 pm.
Lingaraju, a palace security personnel who attended the call, alerted his higher-ups, who informed the police.
The police inspected the parking areas, vehicles around Varaha gate and combed the palace premises.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Channaiah said though it was a hoax call, they did not take any chances.
He said the tourists were not disturbed and there was no panic among the visitors inside or outside the palace. Tourists were made to pass through a metal detector at the entry and exit points, and were frisked before entering the palace, Channaiah said.
