Now, A Panel for Equal Opportunities?

BENGALURU:The State government will consider  a proposal to set up an Equal Opportunity Commission to ensure that various welfare schemes, formulated by the government reach the deserving beneficiaries, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.

He was speaking releasing the District Development and Diversity Index Report for India and Major states, brought out by the Centre for Development Policy and Research, a non-government organisation (NGO) in the city on Saturday. Siddaramaiah said the commission will ensure that the beneficiaries, irrespective of caste and religion, get the benefits of various schemes.

‘Survey, A Precursor’

“The State government’s decision to conduct a house-to-house survey on the socio-education conditions is a precursor to setting up the commission,” the Chief Minister said.
