CM Calls HDK an Opportunist

BELAGAVI:JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy is an opportunist, raises irrelevant issues and there is no need to respond to his statements, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Sunday.

Calling Kumaraswamy a “liar,” Siddaramaiah told reporters at Sambra Airport near here that Kumaraswamy always levelled false allegations against him as he nursed “enmity” against him. Besides, he is unable to tolerate the achievements of the state government, and that was another reason for the baseless charges, the chief minister said. Kumaraswamy has announced a padayatra from Belagavi to Bengaluru, he said and added that the government has the “power to face it.” He said Kumaraswamy has the right to protest, and did not expect the Opposition to cooperate with the state government.

Offices to be Shifted?

The chief minister said he never denied that a few departments could be shifted to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi from Bengaluru.

However, he has instructed the principal secretary to review the matter.

About dividing Belagavi district, Siddaramaiah said he would discuss the issue with the elected representatives of Gokak and Chikkodi taluks.

Siddaramaiah said he would consider the request made by Excise Minister Satish Jarkiholi about changing his portfolio in the next Cabinet expansion or reshuffle.
