DAVANGERE: The Union government has selected Davangere city under its city sanitation plan. Around `264.31 crore will be spent to make the city a planned one and to create better living conditions, Minister for Horticulture and APMC Shamanur Shivashankarappa said on Monday.
Shivashankarappa said under the city sanitation plan, works will be taken up to ensure safe drinking water supply, to find a source of surface water, for pollution control, construction of toilets, schools and underground drainage, and for proper solid waste management.
“Under the urban mobility plan, Davangere city has been identified to develop a system whereby the smooth flow of traffic is ensured. Parking and truck terminals will be built for the purpose. For an underbridge near the corporation office, a `15 crore action plan has been prepared,” he said.
