TUMAKURU: The BJP has been making a fuss about the recommendations of the Kasturirangan report although the Congress government has formed a cabinet sub-committee to elicit responses of stakeholders, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said on Monday.

“The Kerala government which banned mining in the Western Ghats and implemented the report in a haste, is now repenting this as the demands for sand and minerals are not being met,” he told reporters.

Among the six states through which the Western Ghats run, Kerala was the first to act upon the report, he said. The state will never put a blanket ban on mining, he said.
