No Attempt to Destroy Files on Arkavathy, Claims Official

BENGALURU: Bangalore Development Authority has denied rumours that there was an attempt to destroy documents relating to Arkavathy Layout at its head office on Tuesday.

An official, who did not want to be named, said due to the raging controversy over Arkavathy Layout and the big names involved, the related documents were safeguarded in a separate cabin in the BDA’s scanning section.

A rumour spread that documents related to Arkavathy Layout were being destroyed inside the BDA premises after someone circulated a photograph showing BDA personnel working inside a locked room, where the documents were stored, the official said.

He explained that on Tuesday, the employees in the scanning section had a working lunch.

Two security personnel posted in that section were going for their lunch break. Since they did not want to take any chances with the documents, the guards decided to lock the department door with people working inside “just to be doubly sure”, the official said.

This is when someone clicked that picture, he added.
