CM Accuses BJP of Character Assassination

Siddaramaiah said no illegalities had been done while endorsing re-modification of Arkavathy Layout as suggested by BDA.

BENGALURU:Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said the Bharatiya Janata Party was pursuing the politics of “character assassination” to “tarnish his image” by raking up the Arkavathy Layout denotification issue.

Speaking after receiving felicitation from from the KPCC legal cell, the Chief Minister strongly denied the allegations of illegal land denotification. “No illegalities had been done while endorsing  re-modification of Arkavathy Layout as suggested by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA),” he added.

Reiterating that he had signed the re-modification plan of the Arkavathy Layout as per court guidelines, he said, “The modifications of the layout were done by the land acquisition officers and vetted by the Bangalore Development Authority.”

“The kind of denotification done during the regime of B S Yeddyurappa is different from the one done in my regime,” he said.

He urged KPCC legal cell to present an objective report to the people of the state to defeat the charges made against the government.

AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh urged the state government to take extreme care while shortlisting names to the posts of High Court judges.
