Jayadeva Branch in Kalaburagi

BENGALURU:Soon, heart patients in places like Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar, Kalaburagi and surrounding areas need not go as far as Bengaluru to avail treatment at the Jayadeva Insititute of Cardiovascular Scinces. The institute is opening a 114-bed branch in Kalaburagi in five months.

Jayadeva Director Dr C N Manjunath told Express that the branch will have a 40-bed ICU. “We have also identified five cardiologists for the hospital. Four duty doctors, two surgeons and two anaesthesia specialists will also be deputed to the hospital that will come up within the premises of the Gulbarga Medical College Hospital,” he said.

The hospital management has already deputed engineers to set up the hospital at a cost of Rs 15 crore. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board (HKDB) have allocated Rs 6 crore each, said an official. Jayadeva Hospital has pitched in with Rs 3 crore.

RGUHS VC Dr K S Ravindranath said the Hyderabad-Karnataka region lacks good heart care facilities. “This initiative by Jayadeva will help many families in the region to get affordable heartcare,” he said.
