Water Sought From Private Borewells

HASSAN: The district authorities are trying to convince the owners of private borewells to share some water to combat drinking water woes in the worst-hit areas of the district. They have promised the owners of private borewells to provide free power under Nirantara Bhagyajyothi scheme for motor and pay `4,000 to 6,000 a month for providing water, sources said.

The decision was taken in a meeting recently as the drinking water problem is increasing by the day in different parts of the district. The revenue officials in respective taluks have been directed to take the owners of private borewells into confidence and request them to provide water to the public during a particular time in a day.
