BENGALURU: THE judicial probe into the suicide of DySp Ganapati has not yet started, even nearly 20 days after the appointment of the Judicial Inquiry Committee.
This is because the government, which ordered the inquiry, has not yet provided office space for the committee to function. Confirming this, a Law Department source said, “We have written to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) on July 20 requesting it to make arrangements at Balabrooie Guest House without rent, provide a vehicle, driver and support staff for the committee. But so far, DPAR has not acted on it.”
The state government constituted the panel on July 16 and appointed Justice Keshavanarayana to head it. Interestingly, the officials knocked on the door of Justice Keshavanarayana around 11pm on July 16 to hand over the copy of the order. But, the urgency in handing over the order is not seen in ensuring facilities for the panel to start the probe.

Couple arrested for assaulting cop
A couple was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a police officer on duty near BRV Junction. Police said the couple was drunk. Police said Jessi, a Chinese national, and her husband Prashanth, a software engineer, were taking a turn near Manekshaw Parade Groud when both of them fell down from their motorbike. A police constable who was on duty at the spot approached the duo to help them. Police said the duo were inebriated. “Jessi abused the constable for touching her husband. She allegedly slapped the constable. The entire incident was recorded by other police officers in the area,” said a police officer. The officer added, “In the video, the woman said, “All you want is money, tell me how much and I shall give you.” “Though Pulikeshinagar ACP Noorulla Shariff tried to convince the woman, she would not listen. The couple was taken for a medical test to check if they were drunk,” said a police officer. Police said Prashanth and Jessi married seven years ago and were living in China.
